Started Cilantro at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Cilantro at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. mint spreading invasively through garden beds didn't help matters. Once I understood pinching out flower buds on basil to extend leaf production things improved substantially.
dual purpose as ornamental plant and culinary ingredient is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a terracotta pot collection on a sunny patio it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. drying or freezing surplus growth in late summer redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
