Honest review: Mint is rewarding but bolting in hot dry weather especially with cilantro is real
Mint is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: bolting in hot dry weather especially with cilantro. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.
Beyond that, fast growing from seed or small plug plant makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a terracotta pot collection on a sunny patio which suits it well. Learning about harvesting regularly to prevent plants going to seed has been essential. drying or freezing surplus growth in late summer is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
