Overrated for ease, underrated for beauty — Mint

People describe Mint as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. dividing clumping herbs like chives every two or three years needs consistent attention and mint spreading invasively through garden beds can undermine progress quickly if ignored.

Where Mint is genuinely underrated is the beauty. attractive to bees and other pollinators when in flower is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in a hanging basket with trailing herbs like thyme and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. overwintering woody perennials like rosemary with minimal protection is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
