Gift that became an obsession — Oregano

Someone gave me Oregano as a birthday gift and I barely knew what it was. Two years later it's my most treasured plant and I've spent more time researching it than I'd care to admit.

The key discovery was harvesting regularly to prevent plants going to seed — once that clicked, the plant transformed. fast growing from seed or small plug plant is what gets mentioned every time anyone visits. I keep it in a hanging basket with trailing herbs like thyme which works perfectly. drying or freezing surplus growth in late summer is when I understand why this plant has such devoted followers. root rot from overwatering in poorly drained pots is the one ongoing challenge but it's worth the effort.
