The unexpected joy of growing Rosemary

I planted Rosemary without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. dual purpose as ornamental plant and culinary ingredient is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.

I keep it in a dedicated raised herb bed near the back door which is perfect for it. pinching out flower buds on basil to extend leaf production was the thing I got lucky getting right early. sowing and planting out after last frost in spring stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. powdery mildew on basil in cool damp conditions is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
