Six months with Thyme — what I actually learned

I brought Thyme home six months ago with high hopes and almost no knowledge. The first challenge was understanding planting in free-draining soil in the sunniest spot — something I hadn't expected to matter so much. Once I got that right, the whole thing settled down.

I grow it in a kitchen windowsill close to the cooking area and the position has been ideal. fast growing from seed or small plug plant is what keeps drawing me back to it. overwintering woody perennials like rosemary with minimal protection was the moment that made me glad I persisted through the learning curve. One honest warning: bolting in hot dry weather especially with cilantro caught me off guard in month two. Stay on top of it from the start.
