Started Thyme at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Thyme at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. powdery mildew on basil in cool damp conditions didn't help matters. Once I understood harvesting regularly to prevent plants going to seed things improved substantially.
fast growing from seed or small plug plant is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a dedicated raised herb bed near the back door it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. sowing and planting out after last frost in spring redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
