I planted Spider Plant at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. fungus gnats in consistently damp potting compost didn't help matters. Once I understood checking soil moisture before watering rather than watering on a fixed schedule things improved substantially.

straightforward propagation by division, cuttings, or offsets is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In an office desk with a grow light supplement it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. minimal watering and no feeding through winter redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
