A year of growing Cattleya — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Cattleya:
Spring: peak bloom display through winter and spring. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on providing bright indirect light away from direct afternoon sun during this period which set up the rest of the year.
pseudobulbs that store water and nutrients developed steadily through the warmer months. failure to rebloom without a temperature drop trigger appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a conservatory shelf with filtered light performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
