Beginner success with Dendrobium — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Dendrobium. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to repotting into fresh bark medium every two or three years.

I grow mine in a bright bathroom with natural humidity which is working really well. extraordinary bloom longevity lasting weeks to months was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. rest period in summer with focus on leaf and root growth has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring scale insects on pseudobulbs and undersides of leaves, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
