Honest review: Dendrobium is rewarding but scale insects on pseudobulbs and undersides of leaves is real
Dendrobium is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: scale insects on pseudobulbs and undersides of leaves. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.
Beyond that, spectacular flower forms that rival almost any plant makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a grouping with other tropical plants for humidity which suits it well. Learning about watering by soaking the pot then letting it drain fully has been essential. peak bloom display through winter and spring is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
