Container growing Oncidium — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a bright bathroom with natural humidity is my only option for Oncidium. It absolutely works — with the right attention to watering by soaking the pot then letting it drain fully you can get excellent results in containers.
extraordinary bloom longevity lasting weeks to months is fully achievable even in a pot. triggering a new flower spike with cooler autumn nights is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: crown rot from water sitting in the leaf crown. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
