A year of growing Phalaenopsis — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Phalaenopsis:
Spring: rest period in summer with focus on leaf and root growth. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on repotting into fresh bark medium every two or three years during this period which set up the rest of the year.
extraordinary bloom longevity lasting weeks to months developed steadily through the warmer months. aerial root desiccation in dry centrally heated rooms appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a bright bathroom with natural humidity performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
