The unexpected joy of growing Vanda
I planted Vanda without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. wide hybridisation resulting in an almost unlimited colour range is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.
I keep it in a grouping with other tropical plants for humidity which is perfect for it. providing bright indirect light away from direct afternoon sun was the thing I got lucky getting right early. repotting best done just after flowering finishes stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. aerial root desiccation in dry centrally heated rooms is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
