As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Areca Palm. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to avoiding cutting healthy green fronds as this stresses the plant.

I grow mine in a large decorative pot as a patio centrepiece which is working really well. instantly transformative architectural presence in any setting was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. new frond production visible in spring and early summer has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring crown damage and death in severe or prolonged frost, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
