I don't have a garden so a sheltered sunny courtyard or walled garden is my only option for Kentia Palm. It absolutely works — with the right attention to wrapping the crown with fleece in winter for borderline hardy species you can get excellent results in containers.

instantly transformative architectural presence in any setting is fully achievable even in a pot. fastest growth during the warmest summer months is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: root bound decline in pots left too long without repotting. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
