Three things I wish someone had told me before growing Kentia Palm
After growing Kentia Palm for over a year here is what I'd tell a beginner.
First: wrapping the crown with fleece in winter for borderline hardy species is not optional — it's the foundation everything else depends on. Second: crown damage and death in severe or prolonged frost will happen and you should know how to handle it before it does. Third: a poolside or coastal garden planting genuinely matters — the right position unlocks association with warmth and holiday destinations worldwide in a way a poor position never will. cold weather protection needed in winter for tender varieties is the payoff for getting all of this right. It's worth every bit of effort.
