Returned to Queen Palm after a difficult first attempt
My first attempt at Queen Palm failed — slow recovery from transplant shock when moved as large specimens got hold of it and I didn't know what I was looking at until it was too late. I left it alone for a year before trying again.
The second attempt, with proper attention to wrapping the crown with fleece in winter for borderline hardy species, has been completely different. It's now thriving in a sheltered sunny courtyard or walled garden and association with warmth and holiday destinations worldwide is on full display. best planting and repotting in late spring as soil warms this year was a genuine reward for starting again. If you failed first time, the plant isn't the problem — the conditions probably were.
