Overrated for ease, underrated for beauty — Mr. Lincoln

People describe Mr. Lincoln as easy and I'd push back on that slightly. applying rose-specific granular fertiliser in early spring needs consistent attention and powdery mildew in humid summers can undermine progress quickly if ignored.

Where Mr. Lincoln is genuinely underrated is the beauty. dense double blooms with a classic silhouette is extraordinary when you see it in person. I display it in a trellis or pergola for climbing varieties and it gets comments from everyone who sees it. bare canes in winter showing the plant's architecture is the time to really understand what this plant offers. Not for the truly neglectful gardener, but absolutely worth the attention it requires.
