Container growing Queen Elizabeth — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a trellis or pergola for climbing varieties is my only option for Queen Elizabeth. It absolutely works — with the right attention to applying rose-specific granular fertiliser in early spring you can get excellent results in containers.
repeat-flowering over a long season is fully achievable even in a pot. hips forming in autumn for wildlife interest is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: rose dieback from hard winter frosts. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
