Experienced grower's notes on Queen Elizabeth
I've been growing plants seriously for over fifteen years and Queen Elizabeth remains a reliable favourite. For anyone starting out: the most critical thing is pruning to an outward-facing bud at a 45-degree angle. Everything else follows from that.
rose dieback from hard winter frosts is the challenge that trips up most beginners and some experienced growers too. I've been growing mine in a large terracotta pot on a sunny patio for three seasons now and the results are consistently good. dense double blooms with a classic silhouette is what makes it worth coming back to year after year. peak flowering through midsummer is when I show it off — it earns its place fully then.
