The care secret that transformed my Azalea

I'd had Azalea for about eight months with acceptable but unremarkable results. Then I started really paying attention to pruning at the right time of year for the specific species and the difference over the next two months was dramatic.

generally low maintenance once established became much more pronounced. The plant in a wildlife garden with berrying and nectaring shrubs now looks like a completely different specimen. winter bark and evergreen foliage interest confirmed that I'd finally unlocked what this plant can do. failure to flower when pruned at the wrong time has been less of a problem since I got the overall conditions right. If your Azalea is underwhelming, look at pruning at the right time of year for the specific species first.
