The propagation success I didn't expect with Butterfly Bush
I started with one Butterfly Bush and now have four, all from propagation. The process is straightforward once you understand pruning at the right time of year for the specific species — something I picked up from trial and error rather than any guide.
I display them in a mixed shrub border providing year-round structure which shows off multi-season interest from flowers, berries, bark, and autumn colour at its best. autumn berries and foliage colour is when they're most impressive. leggy and open growth habit from insufficient light has been my main challenge across all of them, but it's manageable now that I know what to look for. A genuinely generous plant if you let it be.
