Slow start but a stunning finish with Butterfly Bush
The first few months with Butterfly Bush were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting mulching around the base annually to feed and retain moisture right was the turning point.
wide range from ground-covering species to large specimens became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a formal clipped topiary or box hedge it gets the attention it deserves. autumn berries and foliage colour was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: dieback from harsh winters on marginally hardy varieties. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
