Beginner success with Hen and Chicks — here is what helped

As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Hen and Chicks. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to using a gritty well-draining cactus compost mix.

I grow mine in a fairy garden or miniature landscape which is working really well. easy propagation from leaf cuttings was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. vivid stress colouring in full summer sun has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring etiolation from insufficient light, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
