I've been growing plants seriously for over fifteen years and Jade Plant remains a reliable favourite. For anyone starting out: the most critical thing is providing at least six hours of bright indirect light. Everything else follows from that.

leaf drop in cold or draughty positions is the challenge that trips up most beginners and some experienced growers too. I've been growing mine in a sunny windowsill in a terracotta pot for three seasons now and the results are consistently good. water-storing fleshy leaves in geometric rosettes is what makes it worth coming back to year after year. surprising flower spikes in late spring is when I show it off — it earns its place fully then.
