Six months with Bird of Paradise — what I actually learned
I brought Bird of Paradise home six months ago with high hopes and almost no knowledge. The first challenge was understanding watering generously in summer and reducing in winter — something I hadn't expected to matter so much. Once I got that right, the whole thing settled down.
I grow it in a bright living room away from draughts and the position has been ideal. dramatic large leaves or flowers that create an instant impact is what keeps drawing me back to it. reduced watering rest period in winter was the moment that made me glad I persisted through the learning curve. One honest warning: yellowing leaves from overwatering or cold root temperatures caught me off guard in month two. Stay on top of it from the start.
