Container growing Heliconia — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a bright living room away from draughts is my only option for Heliconia. It absolutely works — with the right attention to maintaining temperatures above 15°C throughout the year you can get excellent results in containers.
dramatic large leaves or flowers that create an instant impact is fully achievable even in a pot. active growth flush when moved outdoors in early summer is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: failure to flower indoors without sufficient light intensity. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
