Started Carrot at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Carrot at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. slug and snail damage on young seedlings didn't help matters. Once I understood consistent deep watering rather than frequent shallow watering things improved substantially.
far superior flavour versus supermarket produce is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a greenhouse or polytunnel for season extension it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. planting out and establishing after last frost redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
