The unexpected joy of growing Carrot
I planted Carrot without expecting much and it's become one of the most satisfying things in my garden. full control over growing methods and chemical use is something I couldn't have predicted from looking at it in a nursery. You only understand it once the plant is established and performing.
I keep it in a greenhouse or polytunnel for season extension which is perfect for it. thinning seedlings to give each plant adequate space was the thing I got lucky getting right early. sowing under cover from late winter for early crops stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. blossom end rot from irregular watering and calcium deficiency is a real thing — just check regularly and deal with it quickly.
