A year of growing Spinach — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Spinach:
Spring: planting out and establishing after last frost. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on rotating crops each year to prevent soil-borne disease build-up during this period which set up the rest of the year.
productive over a long season with successive sowing developed steadily through the warmer months. blight in warm wet summers especially on tomatoes appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a raised bed in full sun with good-quality compost performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
