Started Sweet Corn at the wrong time — lessons learned
I planted Sweet Corn at entirely the wrong point in the growing calendar and spent the first few months wondering what I'd done wrong. slug and snail damage on young seedlings didn't help matters. Once I understood consistent deep watering rather than frequent shallow watering things improved substantially.
productive over a long season with successive sowing is what makes this plant worth persisting with. In a grow bag on a paved patio or balcony it finally looks as good as I'd imagined. sowing under cover from late winter for early crops redeemed the whole effort. If you're starting out: do your timing research before you plant.
