Zucchini is a genuinely satisfying plant to grow, but I want to be upfront about one thing: blossom end rot from irregular watering and calcium deficiency. I've dealt with it twice now and it takes consistent attention to manage.

Beyond that, productive over a long season with successive sowing makes it one of my favourites in the collection. I keep it in a greenhouse or polytunnel for season extension which suits it well. Learning about consistent deep watering rather than frequent shallow watering has been essential. peak harvest in mid to late summer is worth waiting for — the plant really justifies itself then. Four stars because of that persistent issue.
