Slow start but a stunning finish with Clematis
The first few months with Clematis were underwhelming. Almost no visible growth and I questioned my decision repeatedly. Then something shifted — I think getting training new growth to the support structure while still flexible right was the turning point.
many varieties offering fragrance, colour, and wildlife value became apparent once the plant found its stride, and it's genuinely impressive. Displayed in a trellis panel as a garden divider it gets the attention it deserves. bud break and rapid early growth in spring was the moment it stopped being a project and became a pleasure. One thing to keep on top of: roots disturbing foundations if planted too close to buildings. Everything else takes care of itself once the basics are solid.
