I don't have a garden so a pergola or arch creating a garden feature is my only option for Jasmine. It absolutely works — with the right attention to pruning at the correct season for the specific variety you can get excellent results in containers.

dramatic seasonal transformations from bare stems to full cover is fully achievable even in a pot. bud break and rapid early growth in spring is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: roots disturbing foundations if planted too close to buildings. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
