Six months with Passionflower — what I actually learned
I brought Passionflower home six months ago with high hopes and almost no knowledge. The first challenge was understanding training new growth to the support structure while still flexible — something I hadn't expected to matter so much. Once I got that right, the whole thing settled down.
I grow it in a tree stump or old structure being naturalised and the position has been ideal. vertical growing habit maximising space in small gardens is what keeps drawing me back to it. bare structure in winter revealing the interesting stem framework was the moment that made me glad I persisted through the learning curve. One honest warning: pruning at the wrong time removing next season's flower buds caught me off guard in month two. Stay on top of it from the start.
