A year of growing Passionflower — detailed seasonal notes
Here are my notes from twelve months of growing Passionflower:
Spring: autumn foliage colour on deciduous species before leaf fall. This was the moment that confirmed the whole venture. I focused on training new growth to the support structure while still flexible during this period which set up the rest of the year.
dramatic seasonal transformations from bare stems to full cover developed steadily through the warmer months. support structure failing under the weight of mature growth appeared in summer and required prompt treatment. The plant in a house wall with appropriate fixings for support performed better than I'd expected for the position. Overall: a rewarding year. The investment of attention is paid back generously.
