I don't have a garden so a pergola or arch creating a garden feature is my only option for Virginia Creeper. It absolutely works — with the right attention to pruning at the correct season for the specific variety you can get excellent results in containers.

ability to soften hard architectural features naturally is fully achievable even in a pot. peak flowering display in summer is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: pruning at the wrong time removing next season's flower buds. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
