As a complete beginner I was nervous about starting with Wisteria. It turned out to be more forgiving than I expected, as long as I paid attention to providing a robust support structure before planting.

I grow mine in a trellis panel as a garden divider which is working really well. vertical growing habit maximising space in small gardens was a genuine surprise — I didn't expect it to look or perform like that. peak flowering display in summer has been the highlight so far. My biggest mistake early on was ignoring slow establishment in the first season before taking off, which I'd recommend addressing immediately.
