Container growing California Poppy — a practical guide from experience
I don't have a garden so a roadside or verge planting in a community space is my only option for California Poppy. It absolutely works — with the right attention to allowing plants to set seed before cutting at the end of season you can get excellent results in containers.
naturalistic aesthetic that suits modern ecological gardens is fully achievable even in a pot. early spring bulbs and annual seedling germination is just as impressive in a container as it would be in the ground, possibly more so because the plant is at closer viewing distance. The main issue to watch in containers: dog walkers or trampling on unmown meadow areas. Happens faster than in the ground. Highly recommend for balcony and patio gardeners.
