I nearly gave up on Purple Coneflower after three months of mediocre results. Then I focused properly on scarifying or scratching the soil before sowing for seed contact and within a few weeks the difference was dramatic.

It now lives in a wildflower meadow replacing lawn areas and has genuinely transformed that spot. exceptional wildlife value for bees, butterflies, and hoverflies is even more impressive in person than I expected from photos. cutting back meadow areas in autumn to remove thatch was spectacular — worth every bit of patience. If you're struggling with yours, scarifying or scratching the soil before sowing for seed contact is almost certainly the issue.
