Expected to hate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, now cannot imagine stopping
A friend dragged me to a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu trial class. I went to be polite. I was terrible. I went back because I couldn't stand being terrible at something.
That was 9 months ago. The armbar I stumbled through in that first class is now something I teach to newer beginners. tapping out has become a genuine interest rather than a confusion. community at open mat happened somewhere around month three and reframed the whole thing. cauliflower ear risk without ear guards is still there but it's familiar now — part of the texture of the practice. I'm glad my friend didn't take no for an answer.
