The mental side of Judo is what nobody warns you about

I came to Judo for the fitness and stayed for the mental challenge. Everyone talks about the physical side — the uchi-mata, the conditioning, the ear guards for groundwork sessions. Nobody mentioned what happens to your mind.

Learning randori demands a kind of focused presence that clears everything else out. After a hard session I'm genuinely calmer and clearer. landing a clean ippon throw has been the unexpected gift. The physical transformation is real too, but honestly it's secondary now. If you're dealing with stress and want something that genuinely helps, give Judo a proper chance.
