Expected to hate Muay Thai, now cannot imagine stopping
A friend dragged me to a Muay Thai trial class. I went to be polite. I was terrible. I went back because I couldn't stand being terrible at something.
That was 10 months ago. The knee strikes I stumbled through in that first class is now something I teach to newer beginners. reading distance has become a genuine interest rather than a confusion. hitting pads with a good coach happened somewhere around month three and reframed the whole thing. finding quality sparring partners is still there but it's familiar now — part of the texture of the practice. I'm glad my friend didn't take no for an answer.
