I've been competing in Running for three years now, training five days a week. I want to give an honest picture of what the competitive path looks like.

The technical demands compound. negative splitting at beginner level and at competition level are almost different skills. Understanding marathon fuelling strategy deeply enough to deploy it under pressure takes years, not months. Studying Kelvin Kiptum's approach changed how I think about the game entirely. negative splitting a goal race is what makes it worth the commitment. overtraining temptation before a goal race is the tax you pay. Not everyone needs to compete — but if you have the itch, chase it. It will make you better in every direction.
