The mental side of Swimming is what nobody warns you about
I came to Swimming for the fitness and stayed for the mental challenge. Everyone talks about the physical side — the butterfly timing, the conditioning, the swim cap. Nobody mentioned what happens to your mind.
Learning drafting in open water demands a kind of focused presence that clears everything else out. After a hard session I'm genuinely calmer and clearer. the meditative quality of long sets has been the unexpected gift. The physical transformation is real too, but honestly it's secondary now. If you're dealing with stress and want something that genuinely helps, give Swimming a proper chance.
