Expected to hate Swimming, now cannot imagine stopping
A friend dragged me to a Swimming trial class. I went to be polite. I was terrible. I went back because I couldn't stand being terrible at something.
That was 6 months ago. The underwater dolphin kicks I stumbled through in that first class is now something I teach to newer beginners. pace per 100m has become a genuine interest rather than a confusion. the meditative quality of long sets happened somewhere around month three and reframed the whole thing. technique errors entrenching without coaching is still there but it's familiar now — part of the texture of the practice. I'm glad my friend didn't take no for an answer.
