The Ragamuffin is a large, fluffy breed closely related to the Ragdoll, developed from Ragdoll breeding stock with additional outcrossing. Like Ragdolls, Ragamuffins are famous for going limp when held and for their docile, gentle temperament. They are affectionate, patient, and good-natured cats who are highly adaptable to family life.

Pros

  • Exceptionally gentle and patient temperament
  • Good with children and other pets
  • Luxurious, low-mat coat despite its length
  • Adapts well to indoor family life

Cons

  • Semi-long coat needs regular brushing
  • Can be prone to obesity without diet management
  • May not alert to danger due to docile nature
  • Slower to mature than some breeds

Adaptable and harmonious

My Ragamuffin has adapted to our multi-pet household without drama. She established peaceful relationships with our two other cats and our dog quickly and without conflict. She seems naturally harmonious and conflict-averse. She is the most diplomatically skilled cat I have owned. She makes communal…

He is large enough to feel substantial when held but goes completely relaxed in your arms. His coat needs brushing twice a week but it i…

He has been exactly what I hoped for from day one and has maintained that standard every year since. He is the most consistent, reliabl…

My therapy cat

My Ragamuffin has been an unofficial therapy animal for me through a difficult health period. He goes limp in my arms, purrs with extraordinary resonance, and simply stays. He has a quality of calm, warm presence that is genuinely therapeutic. He has made my recovery easier and more bearable. He is …
