The Ragdoll is a large, semi-long-haired breed developed in California in the 1960s by breeder Ann Baker. Named for their tendency to go limp when held, Ragdolls are famously relaxed, affectionate, and gentle. They are among the most laid-back cats in the world — rarely showing aggression, following their owners around like gentle shadows, and tolerating handling that would distress most cats.

Pros

  • Exceptionally gentle and patient — superb with children and other pets
  • Tends to go limp when held — uniquely easy to handle
  • Quiet and relatively undemanding companion
  • Beautiful blue eyes and colourpoint coat
  • Adaptable to indoor life and various household types

Cons

  • Coat requires regular brushing to prevent tangles
  • Laid-back nature means they can be oblivious to threats — must be kept indoors
  • Can be prone to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — genetic testing recommended
  • May gain weight easily if diet is not monitored

The cat is a companion, does not get out of hand, is devoted to its owner. This is probably all about some other cat. Our bandit immediately lined up the older individuals, tore off the wallpaper, and dug up flowers. Is the ragdoll so perfect?
