The Sphynx is the world's most famous hairless cat breed, developed in Canada in the 1960s from a natural genetic mutation. Despite the alien appearance, Sphynx cats are among the warmest and most affectionate breeds on earth — literally and figuratively. Their wrinkled, hairless skin radiates heat, and their personality is expansive: extroverted, playful, and genuinely devoted to human contact.

- Hypoallergenic-friendly — no coat to shed (though not truly allergen-free)
- Social with strangers, other cats, and dogs
- Entertaining and extroverted personality
- Dog-like in their loyalty and people-orientation
Cons
- Requires weekly full-body wiping down to remove oil build-up on skin
- Cold-sensitive — needs warm environments and sometimes clothing in winter
- Ears accumulate wax quickly and need regular cleaning
- Can be prone to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy — cardiac monitoring recommended
